After three days of lovely pausing in Belfast I find myself struggling to get out of bed and on with the long list of things I’d like to get done today. Or rather I need to get done today.
I can feel the familiar pull of incapability that surrounded last week lifting a corner to [...]
… Belfast! By a nose.
The wonderful Cary has put together a weekend of delights that has tempted me back over the Irish sea.
Thanks to everyone for your generous, kind, and often totally out-there ideas.
Favourites include joining Marky on a beach in Vietnam, Rich’s idea of dragging my bed into the living room and borrowing a PS3 and lots of DVDs I haven’t seen and not moving at all save for opening more wine, and ST’s suggestion: Saturday – Help The Poor, Sunday – Read The Bible, Mon [...]
I’m on a course this week. It started today, meaning I don’t get days off today and tomorrow, but I have a lovely 4 day stretch next Saturday – Tuesday.
So then, I need some help as to what should I do with it?
Who/where should I visit? I don’t have much money (so 3 days in New York is out!), but I’d really like to get out of London. (Any [...]
At Last Orders this year we showed a brilliant clip from YouTube that was a spoof advert.
This is part 2…
Wednesday is my Monday, workwise. It’s not, though, everybody else’s Monday so when I get in I have 2 days’ worth of emails and post to get through.
Emails need to be done first, so the post doesn’t usually get opened till the afternoon. About now – 4.15pm.
There’s my copy of NME, and a load of [...]
Most days I have to moderate a comment or two that has slipped through my spam filter. Mainly it’s the usual nonsense to do with sex sites, webcams, cheap imported drugs, or international money laundering.
They are annoying and stupid.
Today though, one made me laugh so much I nearly clicked on the link:
Look
it is interesting
Tits
Short and to the point.
I found this through a link my old friend Molly posted on Facebook. It made me laugh out loud. The timing is just so wonderful…
After this week’s two days of glorious summer, this morning felt distinctly autumnal. It was that refreshing early morning chill that tells you September has well and truly arrived.
For me, Steptember is spring. It’s ever been the bringer of new things – new school years, new jumpers, new pencils, new jobs – and Greenbelt is my New Year’s Eve. (At the end of the Last Night Of [...]
Hello. I am alive. This is me. Today. Then again, I guess there’s no way of proving that this isn’t an old photos being posted by an imposter… ach well.
I’ve been a little distracted for a few weeks. This will all be wrapped up by the end of the week. [...]
It’s 3 a.m.
What a great night
I’m totally in love with Of Montreal, and the new Queens Of Noize night is pretty darn smart too.
Better sleep. All the vague weirdness I was talking about the other week has just got MUCH weirder. And nastier. And 11.15 tomorrow it all gets official too. I’ll be fine… tonight was just what I needed.
Thanks to Mr Gorman for pointing me in the direction of this on YouTube. It’s so amazing it brought a lump to my throat… but the end is slightly disturbing, given the location.
This is for Kristen – who’s birthday may be tomorrow, but rocked a fine version of this very thing at her party [...]
Bananie & Jude… either side of sleep, but still chatting
Ain’t t’internet grand
Thanks to Sinister Martyn for sending me this link…
Ever wondered where your cat goes during the day? Well attach a camera to his neck and see!
It reminds me of school holidays when I was little. Wandering off for a day, hanging out with any friends I came across and going on adventures… or just sitting around in the living room getting in the way.
p.s. the marvellous video by the [...]
Thanks to Evil Harv for pursuading Big John to get this on You Tube… Still genius/terrifying/hysterical after all these years.
p.s. not drunk any more.
… spectacularly drunk.
good night.
Tonight the air in Nashville is like a hot towel in a curry house; uncomfortably warm, moist, fragrant… yet somehow comforting.
It’s been a strange day with sunshine giving way to heavy, slow raindrops that, in turn, become sudden storms-the-likes-of-which-we-don’t-see-in-the-UK. The car is rocked by sideways winds, the rain makes any speed of wiper useless, and you just stare at it, wondering if the apocalyse is on us. [...]
Upon every mode of public transport I travelled today (three trains, three tubes and a bus) I sat next to French people. Were they here on a group rate?
There is clearly one Joseph who is WAY above all the others. Should they not just give up now and give him the part?
Why was [...]

Like Caroline and giraffes, I’m beginning to get themed gifts… A late present from NFS sits beside my pressie from Dr Lilly, and has made my collection complete:

(No, not that sort)
Jacqs and I are indulging in a small Nik Kershaw revival at our desks. Dancing to The Riddle, Wouldn’t It Be Good, I Won’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, Wide Boy, Don Quixote… I could go on.
He’s go a new Greatest Hits out. Anad you should really [...]
