R.I.P. Humph
“As we journey through life, discarding baggage along the way, we should keep an iron grip, to the very end, on the capacity for silliness. It preserves the soul from dessication.”
Humphrey Lyttleton, 1921 – 2008
An amazing man has passed away. Humphrey Lyttleton; extraordinary musician, irascible wit, absolute gentleman, and my pin-up of choice above my desk for the past 2 years.
This train terminates at Mornington Crescent.

Was it on the BBC last night – “Humph, it appears the great tit of time has finally pecked through your milk bottle top of life…”
exactly. Nobody else can deliver those lines as he did. wonderful man.
i wonder how ‘i’m sorry i haven’t a clue’ will fare without him. sad to hear about this.
classic last line! Perhaps he will bequest to the nation the definitive rules for this most silly of games!
I too was very saddened to hear the news. ISIHAC was an national institution and the funniest thing on TV or radio. It survived the loss of Willie Rushden, but it might not survive the loss of dear Humph.
