Word to your mum…

‘Home’ for the weekend for Aunty Caroline’s birthday and Mothering Sunday. Great to have more time with family, particularly as two of my cousins are about to have babies; in fact P gets induced on Tuesday. wow. they’ll be great parents.

Saturday evening was spent watching Dad sing in the local amateur choral society, who raise the bar by using a professional orchestra and some amazing soloists. Unsurprisingly the first half was a 250th birthday selection of Mozart, followed by Haydn’s “Drum Mass“. After a big lunch and a sleepy car journey back from Leicester it must have been good as it kept me awake!

Church with M&D this morning was the usual “are you Judith or Catherine?” questions from some of the more elderly parishoners, but the ever-present joy of village life with tales of stolen marmalade, children handing out their mother’s day wild flowers and the all-pervading smell from the dairly-farm across Church Lane.

Back to London with the car heavy with… wait for it… my ENTIRE record collection. I now have in my posession for the first time in about 5 years all my CDs and vinyl. They are alphebetised and reach just a foot shy of the ceiling. it’s sexy. no, really, it is.

To round it off there was a takeaway curry, then Marky turned up for a cup of tea with Krispy Kremes. One has to ask… does it get any better than that?
