Bob

I’ve never got Bob Dylan. I know, I know… “Hello, My name’s Jude and I’ve never really liked Bob Dylan.” Some would think that it’s an embarrasing confession to make as a woman of my profession, but I’m not really ashamed – I’ve never even been able to muster up the strength of feeling to actually like or actively dislike him, he just leaves me a bit cold.

That said I’ve just started reading Chronicles for work where it’s our Lamacq’s Library book for April (by the way, if you’ve missed Ken Bruce reading Excerpts from Trainspotting this month under the title of ‘Smackanory’, worry ye not. They should be listenable online from tomorrow.). It’s brilliantly, beautifully written. I’ve only got through a handful of pages, but I’m already looking forward to tomorrow. Now if I could only find the right person to record exceprts…

Suggestions?

My favourite game is “Name the musician that your friends would be horrified to know that you don’t like.”

Its fascinating. Everyone’s got that one artist that they really don’t like, but are afraid to tell anyone for fear of being roundly condemned.

    Mine is Van Morrison.

  • the first choice for any reading gig has to be the woman with the greatest voice in the history of the English Language – Miriam Margolyes.

As for artists you really don’t like much – The Stones, Radiohead, White Stripes… I could go on. :o )

Go on ask Oli, you know he’ll want to…

As for artists I just don’t get: Prince.

just find a spare hour (yes i know ..but try)
and listen to all of “slow train coming”
then tell us again if you don’t get Bob …

  • Paul, no shame it NOT liking barry Manilow… but Liking????

And Dickie… I’m sure if I invested the time I could grow to love Bob… but do I really have the energy? I can’t seem to muster it up.
