as I was saying…
Sufjan was great the other night. What I can’t believe is that BHPip was there the same night and we didn’t see each other. D’oh!
It was really different from the last time; no cheerleaders, no drums, a lot less energy… but he held the attention of the room like no-one else. At one point somebody at the bar dropped a couple of coins and the sound rang out across the room. Literally hearing a penny drop.
Opening up for him was My Brightest Diamond, also known as Sharra from Sufjan’s band. Her voice is remarkable, and I’d love to hear more from her. To be honest she had me from the opening moments as her first song was a cover of my favourite song in the world. Anyway – it was great.

Last night I went to see my friends Helen & Andy and met their new baby Grace. She’s about 8 weeks old and, naturally, a perfect heap of beautiful fragility. It was great to hang out with them… we put the worlds to rights over dinner then watched Rome. I think it was good… the acting was great (apart from that teenager who was rubbish!) and it’s a top show for playing the “oooh… we know him… he’s that fella… you know… he was in… Pride & Prejudice*”. There was a bit too much gratuitous stabbing-through-the-throat for my liking, but then I’m a girl. If I’m home next week I’ll certainly watch it.
right. got to get up and go to work.
