Different Strokes

Oh the panic when the tickets didn’t arrive as planned! Calls made, complaints made, all sorts of people talking to all sorts of people… Tickets found (in the BBC Internal Mail equivalent of ‘down the back of the sofa’), sighs of relief breathed, protocols changed…
And so to ULU (having not been there for [...]

Elbow

South West Trains meant we missed the first 15 minutes… but somwhow all but 1 of our favourite songs was in the part of the set we caught. I was really excited about the show ’cause I was taking cath, and Leaders Of The Freeworld is probably her album of the year. I’ve [...]

Thankful

Tonight across the pond it’s Thanksgiving.
Today I’m thankful for:
My colleagues
My sister
Bumping into old friends on tube trains
A clean and tidy desk
The courage to be honest
Fun in the studio
and…
Confirmed flights that put me in Martha’s Vineyard on Jan 14th and Nashville on Jan 21st.
I’m a comin’ y’all!

Let it…?

According to my favourite and most reliable weather site Metcheck, it might actually snow in London this evening… and almost certainly tomorrow.
Wow. I like snow. Mainly ’cause we hardly ever get any and it doesn’t usually disrupt things too much.
Also, there’s the added bonus that, if it does, my mum will call me [...]

the long day

not the longest… but long enough
7 hours in the studio today what with pre-records on top of a live show. Frankly, I was dreading it. I even had the classic whiney voice happening when I told mum on the phone this morning that I didn’t want to go to work. One guest [...]

yeah?

sorry for the radio silence…
There’s been two trips to ULU that I need to mention. The first was last week for The Decemberists and it was brilliant. What was particularly goos was that I was totally exhausted, and at lunchtime was wondering whether I wanted to go at all… but I made the [...]

Children In Need day…

How one gets greeted at the door of Broadcasting House on Children In Need day.

Penny is the most amazing security guard/receptionist. She never forgets if you’ve got guests coming – in fact she looks up the show’s web page and knows who to expect before you’ve had a chance to tell [...]

tummy ache

On the way to work I stopped by the kiosk at Victoria station for a special birthday treat…

I wasn’t the only one who thought I would enjoy some sweet Krispy action for my b’day…

… and wonderful Lauren thought a posh apricot tart from the fabulous Villandry would go nicely with my tea (it did)…

… and [...]

better days

better days are always peppered amongst the seemingly endless stream of bad ones.
Today was long, heart-stoppingly busy, but totally encouraging and pretty darn productive. I felt somewhat carried.
Apparently Westlife turned on the Christmas Lights in Oxford Street earlier. Shame it wasn’t the newly-reunited Take That… Now there’s a band I sneak out during [...]

Stress

It sits in my solar plexus like a hard knot. digging in just below my ribcage.
It shifted over the weekend, but was there again when I woke up this morning.
It was there when I got to work.
It was there in spades during the day and the show, and still there this evening [...]

poems and re-versions

i remembered this, my favourite poem, as I was reading Bananie’s blog. It’s by R.S. Thomas.
Prayers like gravel
flung at the sky’s window,
hoping to attract the loved one’s attention.
But without visible plaits to let down
for the believer to climb up.
To what purpose open that far casement?
I would have refrained long since
but that peering once
through locked [...]

Damn it

How did it get to be 1am already?
I’ve been playing with Flickr and listening through to records for Roundtable tomorrow…
Hope to get a lots more pics up soon…

Copy Cat

Just like Liz I don’t have anything better to blog tonight… so here’s a map of all the coutries I’ve visited. Only 10%. Must try harder. (I’m enjoying the little red Sri Lanka though.)

create your own visited countries map

it may look the same…

… but under the sleek exterior here at judeadam.com there beats the heart of a very different beast.
I’ve changed servers. Ben is my hero.
Here’s to a long and happy life without sporadic bursts of being randomly taken off-line for totally WRONG reasons.
la la la

sorry

it’s been a few days.
another weekend of nothing but the sofa. It’s getting annoying to work all week and get sick at the weekends – but I do feel much better for my enforced house-arrest. I missed out on fireworks, a party, rugby, and cold and rain – so ups and downs!

Cath and [...]

Russian Hornets

Jo & Lil went to Prague (amongst a massive list of other places) this summer and brought me back one of the best presente EVER.
Russian Dolls. Of the Watford Team.

So… from the left we have Cox, Ardley, Chamberlain, Helgerson and Devlin. Obvliously it’s a bit out of date [...]

annoying cough

I’ve been fighting off a cold for about 10 days now. It’s that annoying stage where your throat’s always a bit achy, your nose is a bit bunged up, and you’ve got a bit of a cough… but not really enough to do any good or get anything moving.
I’m sure sleep would sort me [...]

as I was saying…

Sufjan was great the other night. What I can’t believe is that BHPip was there the same night and we didn’t see each other. D’oh!
It was really different from the last time; no cheerleaders, no drums, a lot less energy… but he held the attention of the room like no-one else. At [...]

Sufjan again

mmm… goood… more tomorrow…
