Thursday

It snowed yesterday. A fair bit for April, so we’re heading up for about 40cm powder before it’s all gone.
Wrist is holding up fine, although 2-stepping with a strange Syrian who told me his name was Osama didn’t do it much good.
I always liked Steven Gerrard.

red eyes

End of the first day’s skiing.
It’s the second night where I’ve been one of the first people to hit the sack, but the first where I’m wearing a bandage.
Two falls. The first a classic wipe out from going far too fast and hitting some wet snow; the second being slow-mo off a chair [...]

offski

I’m off for a week Skiing. I’m praying there’s still snow left as, like Britain, France has been unseasonably warm for the last few weeks.
I may be able to blog from the chalet, which apparently has internet access, but I might be having just too good a time. (fingers crossed)
So if [...]

Him & Him

I’ve made it. Made it through the week. Everything I could do I’ve done, and the list of jobs left behind didn’t overwhelm me with guilt. The one thing I haven’t managed to do is get out tonight to the gig I’ve been looking forward to most in the last few months; [...]

The Best Email

Kate’s fella Ian emailed this in to the show last night.

The biggest one is called Milton. And they’re all fans of The Dream Ticket.

Punxsutawney Jesus

We got an email in from one of our listeners in Colorado, with a photo of the snow coming down outside his window. He was equating my leaving the show with the down-turn in weather… but it was his next line that will stay with me forever.
You see it’s either that or that [...]

ends

Yesterday was my last time at the helm of the good ship Freak Zone and tonight will be my last Dream Ticket.
I’m really excited about the new show but, as always, it’s hard to say goodbye to things you love even thought you know it’s going to be better on the other side. The [...]

Priceless

I threw on jeans and a shirt to grab a pint of milk from the shop. Mr Nice Man was in.
It’s his store and is still pretty new. He’s a short round pakistani man who’s gone prematurely bald and has fabulous set of hair plugs front and centre. He’s totally delightful and [...]

Plan B

So I’m the latest one to start reading Anne Lamott’s new book Plan B. It’s the follow up to Travelling Mercies, which incidentally I leant to Beki about 3 years ago and never got back… but I digress.
This woman is my favourite faith-based author bar none. Nick Hornby once spoke of not wanting [...]

Aches

My face actually hurts. I think it’s sinus pressure, but my face hurts from the inside. By my left cheek, the middle of my forehead, and my left gums too. The last thing I need is a cold.
I’ve also learnt the lesson of stretching after a run. My hamstrings are never [...]

mornings

I’m vaguely aware of the noises of the building as I lie, half asleep, in the mornings.
Cath leaves pretty early and I’m only usually aware of her as she opens the front door to leave. At about 8.15 the guy on the 4th floor comes down with his bike; the back wheel [...]

A bit of summer

We caught the sun today. Cath actually got burned on her face, and my nose has sprouted a few early summer freckles. We went to Putney, a whole mess of us, and bought far too much food and booze at M&S then went and barbecued and played the fool in the park. [...]

If only it would stay…

the best hair days happen by accident. I twisted it into a knot to keep it off my face and ended up with the poshest ‘do’! Oo La La!

right. back to work.

Double O Heaven

Well I ran… but forgot to budget, timewise, for the necessary 90 minute cooling off period for my baby-scaring red face, so I got some very strange looks on the commute into work. The first three greetings when I got to the office were ‘a little warm Jude?’ “you’re looking a bit rosy cheeked” [...]

Determination

Determination is… laying out your running stuff on the floor beside your bed at 2.30am with the alarm set for 8.45 and a meeting in town at 11.

Terror

Totally pinched from Carlen’s Blog
The current US Terror Alert is:

When they hit Elmo we’re all in the poo…

Texas Envy

My lovely Stuart and my presenter in waiting are both out in Austin for South by South West.
They keep telling us that it’s hard work, and that it’s raining and a bit cold… but we know that they’re lying. It’s all a big jolly, seeing INCREDIBLE bands and eating tex-mex food and [...]

appeasement

Part of me needs to blog to get the date on the calendar up there underlined.
Part of me needs to blog so Pip doesn’t call me names.
Part of me needs to blog to feel like I’m putting something out there.
Part of me needs to blog so I feel like there’s actually something going on in [...]

Monday

Man… I just can’t seem to get it together today…
The show is sounding great tonight though with Jane on top form, and utterly amazing sounds from Sigur Ros in the Headline Slot. I’m really going to miss the sillyness we have in the studio…
Good (and short) GB meeting earlier… shame Pip’s poorly, or I’m [...]

Questions fro Bananie

ok then… 5 questions for Annie to answer on her blog. (Thanks for Cath for her assistance with these – although you’re lucky I didn’t use her first 2 suggestions. Filthy.)
1) If the world were truly your oyster, where would you chose to live and why.
2) Who was the very fist [...]
