Big and Small
Wednesday night was Duran Duran at Wembley Arena. The first time I’ve seen the original 5 members of the band playing together.
It was amazing. Simon Le Bon has clearly been back to the singin teacher ’cause he hit every note. They played a mixture of the hits you’d expect and then some gems that you wouldn’t. The Chauffer, New Moon On Monday, I Don’t Want Your Love. They only did 3 new ones, and they weren’t even that bad.
Cath and I stood up and sang along to every word. Big time showbusiness (with extra cheese).
As an added bonus, David Soul was sat behind us. Well is was a bonus until he made it very obvious that he didn’t like the fact that we were standing up and singing along. He couldn’t see, and he made us very aware of the fact. Naughty Mr David Soul upset my sister, and made it hard for her to enjoy the concert. I was just cross that at the age of 5 I bothered to tear his picture out of the Sunday Times Magazine and put him on my wall.
Thursday night I was upstairs at The Enterprise in Camden to see Duke Special.
The opposite in terms of glitz and glamour. A crappy pa system and a tiny crowd. But I sang along to every word and loved every minute of it.
And this time I had a much nicer ‘celebrity’ sat behind me… who’s picture is still on my wall!
